I've just found a web site in Brazil featuring my architectural photography too. Here's the English translation bit.ly/LiYfXk #photo New photoblog #photo Saturn V Study III, Johnson Space Center bit.ly/LxPVWF At home, online and loading up the iPad with apps. Anyone have any "must have" photography-related apps that I'm unlikely to know about? RT: @ajlmarques: This has to be 1st on a photography podcast - @auer1816 joined us on for recording PhotoNetCast 70 from middle of some lake while sailing. I rather liked my solar eclipse shot but, of course, NASA did a better job. Bigger lens, I expect :-) flic.kr/p/c2Xy2E #photo The second of my Saturn V studies taken at Johnson Space Center is on the photoblog today wp.me/prByZ-18P #photo New photoblog #photo Saturn V Study II, Johnson Space Center bit.ly/KCbkbB My son was looking at the eclipse picture and asked "If I stare at this long enough will I hurt my eyes?" I don't know if I tweeted this already but here's my eclipse shot from last night bit.ly/J8eD9y #photo #ATX #eclipse Home with the eclipse pictures. Unfortunately, we were a bit too far north to get the eclipse behind the capitol dome. Maybe next time. Look at the size of that lens! Jerry and I are at an undisclosed, eclipse shooting location #photog campl.us/jCnX We're making a pinhole camera to allow the kids to view the eclipse. Brushfire Taci & Diablo sauce. Does life get any better? (@ Torchy's Tacos w/ 2 others) 4sq.com/L8BNjC So much for the clear skies forecast I read on Friday. Eclipse viewing could be in jeopardy at this rate. New photoblog #photo Saturn V Study I, Johnson Space Center bit.ly/KyeMEb Competitions and prizes! Join us for our recording of the 4th birthday @PhotoNetCast show tomorrow at 3pm CST bit.ly/bRF68F #photog Cameron's taking part in his Hip Hop dance recital (@ Westlake Community Performing Arts Center) 4sq.com/Jso5tx Here another opportunity to take Raul Touzon's excellent "Portable Sun" class in Austin this coming July bit.ly/Jo123T #photog Just queued up 8 pictures from @SpaceCenterHou and Johnson Space Center for the photoblog next week. Lots of techie goodness! #photog I just replaced my old Linksys router with a new DLink one and the home network (even the wired one) is now flying. Excellent! New photoblog #photo Tunnel View, Yosemite National Park bit.ly/JW217H Today's photoblog offering is a minimalist shot of trees and clouds (from above the clouds) wp.me/prByZ-18M #photo New photoblog #photo Grace Cathedral, San Francisco bit.ly/KSA7KS Flickr #photo - Astronaut and MMU, Space Center Houston bit.ly/JMpGHv Game 23 of @hdrtennis is on with new rules. Head over to Facebook or G+ to get the brackets and enter. on.fb.me/bScjN3 #HDR #photog A10: I would crop the right side and top a bit to concentrate the eye on the women whose faces are visible. Lovely shot though #TogChat A9: I'll take the exposure as it is, thanks. The slight underexposure brings out the colour beautifully. #TogChat A8: Lovely shot. The sepia toning is especially nice. #TogChat A7: Very nice - interesting shot. I would likely have cropped top & bottom to make it a panoramic aspect ratio (but I'm strange) #TogChat A6: The white background disturbs me a bit. I far prefer several of the other pictures in the same set. #TogChat In TweetDeck you can get round the Flickr URL bug by right clicking the URL and choosing "Open Link" #TogChat RT @JohnMilleker: Luckily, Photography is one field where we don't seem to have gender stereotypes. And I like that. #TogChat (Agreed) A2: I suspect women do better at putting people at ease. The very best portrait photogs I know are female. #TogChat I'll be lurking in the background for #TogChat today since I get the feeling I'm too male to participate :-) Today's photoblog offering is a daytime long exposure of the Merced River just outside Yosemite National Park wp.me/prByZ-18K #photo Flickr #photo - Shuttle Cockpit, Space Center Houston bit.ly/KuL7i5 Unimaginitive chip designers? I'm reading a module spec and the registers are named "REG1" through "REG28". Guys! A "dark and very expensive forest"? (to quote one of my favourite lines from Spamalot) #photo wp.me/prByZ-18J Importiing this weekend's images from @SpaceCenterHou. These should contain the final shots for my Saturn V exhibition set. Fingers crossed! A huuuuuge thank-you to Tony at @lensprotogo for helping me out in a jam with a D700 rental. You guys are superstars! Camera problems? Sorry to hear that! Bummer! Mine has a few quirks that make me think I should be sending it in for a service soon. Good luck w/ the repair! Anyone want to go out shooting this week in NJ or NYC? I would love to. Unfortunately, I'm 1500 miles away :-( Maybe later in the year. My wife may be up there for a book signing and I would come along as trophy husband & photographer. Today's photoblog shot is a colourful scene from Nob Hill in San Francisco #photo wp.me/prByZ-18H I'm at Rudy's Country Store & Bar-B-Q (Austin, TX) w/ 4 others 4sq.com/McYAg8 Another excellent Burning Man portrait from @fluck today. Make sure you check out all the others too bit.ly/JdsFpP #photo You're welcome. I love the Burning Man images! One day, I'll try to get there.... Let me know when, so we can shoot together. That would be great but I strongly suspect it won't be in the next couple of yrs. :-( LMK if you are in the Austin area though. I'm at Alamo Drafthouse Cinema – Slaughter Lane for The Avengers (Austin, TX) w/ 7 others 4sq.com/J3954F Cub Scout overnight! (@ Space Center Houston w/ 6 others) 4sq.com/IMv4cI New photoblog #photo Art Deco Ceiling, San Francisco bit.ly/Jy7yQ8 Love both these shots Dave...love SF, dying to go back Thanks, Laura. It's a great city, isn't it? That was the first time I've been there in 20 years when I had time to look around. RT: @Pres_Bartlet: I have yet to find someone who opposes gay marriage that has been able to state any measurable harm that would come with marriage equality. I love shooting inside cathedrals and historic buildings. Take, for example, Grace Cathedral in San Francisco - flic.kr/p/bVXwGY #HDR Wow! 5 inches of rain in our front yard last night. That brings us to 8 inches for the week do far. in Texas? Amazing. I was of the opinion is never rained.. The average annual rainfall here is about 32 inches. The problem is that it falls on about 5 days! at least it's exciting. When it rains in Brisbane it does so with such ferocity it feels like the world is ending! What's less exciting is the fact that storms like that gouge deep canyons in my gravel driveway. Wheelbarrow time... Those 3 Nikon 28-300 lenses that Amazon had today have now disappeared. I hope some of them went to you tweeps. #photog maybe just a mistake and you can find them tomorrow! Hopefully! I snapped one up before I tweeted about the fact that they had 3 left! :-) Great use for that lens. I took the 18-200mm to Disney World and I was more than pleased with the photos. Enjoy! This one is going to Hawaii with me. Fantastic! Wish I was doing half the travel and shooting you've been doing and planning... I hardly ever get to travel these days!. Only 2 trips this year. I guess I just shoot a lot when I do get away! For anyone else looking for a Nikon 28-300mm lens, Amazon just got 4 into stock. 3 are still available :-) amzn.to/IGhwiK #photog Aaaaan now I want to see what you think of it! Bad day to have my modem start acting all rebellious! Arrrrgh!!! @*$%^!! Just realized why I've not seen any of your tweets recently - you changed your avatar pic and merged into the background :-) Heya Dave! Nice to hear from you. Been away a lot and hitting the road again tomorrow... Iceland! How have you been? All's well here, thx. I strongly suspect I'm the only photog on the planet who's not been to Iceland yet. Have a great time! thanks Dave! I'll be leading a workshop there next year along with @CBphotography09 ... Join us! :) I've used up my workshop privileges until 2014 - just back from a week in Yosemite/Sequoias National Pks. Maybe then, though. Just read that owning the new Leica M9 Monochrome makes you the most hardcore photographer ever...well, it certainly makes you hardcore. For true hardcore, it would also need to insert a metadata flag into all files that prevented any cropping whatsoever :-) Repost: Today's photoblog offering is an #HDR staircase from San Francisco's Embarcadero Center - wp.me/prByZ-18D #photo RT: @brainpicker: This anecdote about Sendak's correspondence with a little boy is only the best thing ever j.mp/IMOthm @macahan2000 @Mindless00 Ouch! I must have missed the news of the injury. Get well soon Eszter! (and call someone to bring chocolate!). Best ice cream you will taste anywhere. Period. not fair to speak about ice-cream when I'm starving for icecream all day long!!! @macahan2000 But you are closer to good chocolate than we are, surely? Treat yourself to some of that instead. @macahan2000 We're back in San Francisco with today's photoblog offering - wp.me/prByZ-18D #photo #HDR New photoblog #photo Embarcadero Stairs, San Francisco bit.ly/Jz2LB3 RT @itravel81: @Voicey123 The most important thing is to have fun whilst making them #TogChat (What he said - unleash your creativity!) A10: Fascinating shot. I would have thought you would get better DOF from a D4 though, eh? :-) @macahan2000 A9: I would likely have concentrated on the pattern of the strings and lose the foreground stuff, I think. #TogChat A8: I like light streak shots but this one is a bit too frenetic for me, I'm afraid. #TogChat A7: I'm not sure I would classify this as abstract but I do like the idea and the lighting. #TogChat Stepping out for a bit - work calls #TogChat A6: Very soothing colours. I like it. I may be tempted to darken the edges a bit to concentrate attention on the centre #TogChat A5: We should add @fotomoto and @Imagekind to the list of sites that sell art. Both excellent. #TogChat A5: All the usual online sites for publication. Sales via blog, bit.ly/AwQ8BZ, SmugMug and ImageKind. #TogChat Looks like we offended @Jim_Denham and he's run away :-( #TogChat A4: I find it more fun to try to figure out how to create an abstract effect OUTSIDE Photoshop when doing it inside would be easy. #TogChat A4: I tend to try to create abstracts in-camera rather than after the fact. #TogChat A3: I like camera movement or zooming (see last tweeted URL for zoom example). bit.ly/JVnzhG #photo #TogChat A2: Pretty much any scene though I like to look for subject with strong patterns or lines mostly. #TogChat bit.ly/JVmeaI #photo A1: Here's my favourite recent example of an abstract bit.ly/JVlJgI #TogChat #photo A1: I think of abstract images as ones where the picture doesn't depend upon the subject being recognisable. #TogChat bit.ly/9tc3aD Repost: Some seaside texture on the photoblog today. wp.me/prByZ-18C #photo What's with the Nikon 28-300mm? No-one seems to have the lens in stock these days. #photog New photoblog #photo Sand and Tracks, Mustang Island bit.ly/LMsZ4J These "huge" panoramas I'm stitching tonight are about the same resolution as a single D800 exposure. Dang! #photog | |
